Todd Elliott grew up in the Southern Appalachians, and his passion for the natural world has led him to work as a naturalist, biologist, and photographer on six continents.
Todd’s research focus is on the global interactions between organisms and ecosystems, and he has extensive field and lab experience with a variety of mammals, birds, reptiles, fungi,
plants, and myxomycetes. He teaches ecology / biology programs and consults for private landowners, NGOs, and conservation- and governmental organizations and is passionate about the continued effort toward sustainability, the conservation of biodiversity, and believes that this huge challenge we face as humans asks us not only for large scale policy change, but also for the smaller, but equally important acts of caring for our planet.
When not on the trail of his next research project, Todd can be found chasing after spiders, unusual wildflowers, and edible wild mushrooms in the Western North Carolina mountains he calls home.
